The night ended with the most perfect sunset at the Carolina Country Weddings Venue after the most blissful and rustic wedding that exemplified Melissa and Samuel’s personality to a tee.
How the met
Samuel and Melissa met at a local grill in the small town of Mount Holly, NC, where they worked in April of 2011. Melissa was a waitress and Samuel was a cook. Melissa was so intrigued by Sam’s good looks and southern charm and immediately began trying to catch his attention. One night after work, they planned to stay late to talk and get to know each other. There was a sudden spark for the both of them that night, what some may call “love at first sight.” And from there, the rest was history.
How he proposed
They were on a trip to Bakersville, NC, a small town with a lot of family history for Melissa’s family. Samuel suggested that they take a hike on the Roan mountain and spend the day enjoying each other’s company and the beautiful views. Well, somewhere along the way they accidentally took the wrong trail and ended up never reaching the lookout. It was also pouring rain that day. Nothing seemed to go as Samuel had planned, except for on our way back down the trail he reached out and grabbed Melissa’s hand and when she turned around he was down on one knee with the most beautiful and perfect ring. At first she didn’t know what to think and thought he was kidding, but the look on Sam’s face had her assured it was not a joke. That day he asked me to be his wife, and I said YES!!!!
The fact that it poured down rain on the day Sam proposed they were so worried that it would rain on their wedding day. I mean that’s almost every single bride’s fear, right? But it rained the day before and after their engagement session, which left the clouds in the sky and didn’t get to have a sunset glow. Melissa’s bridal session POURED hard, so hard that there were tornado warnings and watches throughout the are. Slightly scared for both of our lives that day. So they had every right to have that fear. Thank the heavens about it held off on their wedding day. The greatest gift a bride and groom could ever receive – no rain on their wedding day! Granted it hit the 90’s for the first time this year it was still a beautiful day and we had the most delightful sunset. So we danced in the field and let them just love on each other.
Seven years after they met their big day had finally come. From the moment the day started to the very end you could tell that they were most excited about their marriage and not the wedding itself. From the simple design, decorations to the display of excitement during the entire ceremony and reception. It was about them and their love. That’s the most important goal and I could not have been more proud to capture that long awaited moment for the two of them. Congratulations Melissa and Samuel, it’s been the sweetest pleasure serving you. I hope you spend the next lifetime loving each other deeply.
