Kaitlyn and Gavin drove all the way from West Virginia for their engagement session in Charlotte at the UNC Charlotte Botanical Greenhouse. As much as I would like to think someone would drive that far just for me, that isn’t actually the case.
How they met
Flashback a year ago when Kaitlyn’s best friend and Gavin’s best friend (who are married) invited them both to hang out one night, that was when they first met. They spent the night getting to know each other and hanging out with their best friends. The rest was history, that simple. You know that saying “when you know, ya know”, well they knew and their best friends knew, they were perfect for each other.
The Proposal
One day, about a year into their relationship, when Kaitlyn came home from work Gavin had this really nice dinner that he had prepared all by himself, set and ready for her arrival. When a guy prepares dinner for his girlfriend all by himself, you know it’s something special, he’s a keeper! During dinner, under the placemat, he had this little letter that he wrote just for her. Within that letter was the most important question Kaitlyn will ever answer. It wasn’t clearly written out in big bold words, instead Gavin had strategically placed the words “will you marry me” throughout the entire letter that Kaitlyn had to decipher to find. But once she knew, it was the easiest question she’d ever answer.
So a couple of weeks ago when Kaitlyn first emailed me for an engagement session in Charlotte, like I always do, I sent her my pricing as well as a questionnaire. As we talked more and I got to know them better I learned that they were from West Virginia and were actually in town because Gavin had an interview the day before our session. They thought it would be the perfect opportunity, since they had the time, to have their engagement session in Charlotte and so they found me. With their outgoing personalities and love for the outdoors a greenhouse session was the best setting for their engagement session.
In the midst of planning a wedding, Kaitlyn and Gavin are also planning to move from West Virginia to North Carolina – because Gavin got the job!! I wish you both all the best and I hope you LOVE your images as much as I loved taking them and getting to know you both!
