Guess who is finally married! Anna and Dylan had their charming Dodgin’s Barn wedding in Lincolnton was the perfect quaint setting for these two to say I DO! Anna and Dylan are another set of close friends who I’ve known for a really long time (elementary days and awkward puberty moments). You can read more about their story from their engagement session.
Almost two years ago, they asked me if I wanted to be their wedding photographer or a guest. Since we were all really close friends I understood why they would ask that. Truth be told, I didn’t want to be a guest. I wanted to be the one person that spent the most time with them on their special day! Is that too greedy? I told Anna specifically, I’ll have the best view and you’ll have the best images to keep forever. After a week or so, Anna messaged me back and said “We already knew we wanted you as our photographer…so what does your calendar look like for Oct 20, 2019?!!”. I quickly replied with “BOOKED FOR YOUR WEDDING!”
Whenever you get the pleasure to meet Anna and Dylan, you will quickly see that they are the literally the sweetest human beings on the planet. Both of them would give the shirt off their backs to help you. They were meant to be. Soulmates. Alike in so many ways but also different enough that they complement each other entirely. Anna is the planner while Dylan is, well, a guy. They actually went to 8th grade prom together and we all knew at that point they were destined to be together forever.
AJ, the best man, described in his toast how one late night conversation in college about “the ones that got away” led to lighting the spark again. All Dylan could think and talk about was, Anna. When another friend gave Dylan her number it was soon after that, he was taking many trips to UNC Chapel Hill to visit her. The stars aligned perfectly and whether Dylan knew it or not at the time Anna knew they were getting married (because she’s a planner, remember?).
Every moment of their wedding day spoke directly to the kind of people Anna and Dylan are and the families that raised them. Their families welcomed me with hugs, the bridesmaids were so sweet and helpful, Dylan was full of emotion all day because he knew this was the day he had been waiting for for a long time. He wrote the sweetest note for his bride that moved both of them to tears. As he wrote and when she read it right before walking down the aisle.
Everything was flawless, from the gorgeous florals from Publix (yes, Publix!) to the delicate jewelry pieces that were her mothers. Anna wore a simple gold necklace with a gold ring on it that her grandmother gave her when she was born. She was there in spirit and close to heart.
Anna and Dylan, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your family for the day. It was the best blessing and gift to get to share those moments with you. I am so excited for you to see a few of my many favorites of your charming Dodgin’s Barn wedding!
Big thanks to all those who helped!
