We started a new blog series this fall for the chance to share more about other “Friendors” (wedding vendors) in the Charlotte area!   As small business owners we all strive for word of mouth referrals. Then this idea popped into my head to help educate clients and those recently engaged to hear a little bit from different types of vendors other than photography!

Most of the vendors you’ll hear from in this series I have either worked with already or have met and become friends with but haven’t worked with YET! I’m so excited to see what they share and hopefully this little blog series helps someone find the perfect vendor dream team for their big day!

The most common question or topic that seems to come up is if you need a planner/coordinator for your wedding. If so, how long of a service do I really need them for? Full planning, month-of, day-of?? My personal opinion is that you definitely need one to keep yourself sane and at bare minimum a month of planning is best. The month before your wedding is when all the loose ends come together and final vision comes to life. To stay sane and relieve stress on the bride and groom (and some parents)  the planner can take everything off your hands so you can focus on the end goal: MARRIAGE!

Nicole from Above and Beyond Event Planning (a Charlotte wedding planner) was a rockstar at one of my weddings this spring and I thought she’d definitely have some ideas and thoughts on how a planner can be more beneficial than you’d think!

What are the top three things brides forget to bring/have/do/think about that you are prepared for as a planner?

Here’s what Nicole had to say, “With all brides that I work with we have a final meeting about a month before their big day. At this meeting we go over everything! From each wedding, I usually have to add something to the outline that we go over. Some of the simple things forgotten have been, extra plates or forks for the cake and also a cutter for the cake. I always carry these items in my emergency bag just in case.

Most brides don’t know the amount of songs they have to pick out for certain things, such as the song for parents or grandparents to walk down the aisle or that they need a song chosen for when they cut the cake. I truly enjoy final meetings with brides because afterwards they seem to have a sense of relief and they always walk away feeling more comfortable about their big day!”

Honestly, I didn’t even know there was a special cake cutting song either and I’ve been a part of hundreds of weddings.  OOPS. lol.
