Courtney and Jay’s joyful engagement session at Jetton Park was all I could ever ask for and more! I have been dying to shoot at Jetton Park and they were the perfect couple to make my photography dreams come true. They were so fun which made their session so simple and full of laughter.
How they met
Courtney and I have a lot of mutual friends, and I’m also photographing her step sister’s wedding this fall. I was super excited when she reached out and wanted me to be her photographer. Courtney and Jay had that rare love at first sight when they first met. About 3 years ago Courtney was maid of honor in her sister’s wedding and Jay was a groomsmen. Once they saw each other it was history and from that day on, they haven’t stopped talking. Two years of long distance 7.5 hours to be exact and now they are only 1.5 hours from each other. They say “distance makes the heart grow fonder” and there is no denying their love when you see them together.
How he proposed
In November of 2017 they were at Chapel Hill for a football game since to watch them play Courtney’s alma mater, WCU. All of her college friends were there and it was like a reunion since they haven’t seen each other in so long. One of her best friends asked the night before if they all wanted to go take pictures at the bell tower. Oblivious to what was already planned, she agreed because duh, who doesn’t want updated pictures with all of your friends? It was Courtney and Jay’s turn to take couples pictures and while they were under the bell tower, he looks at her and tells her how much he loves her, gets down on one knee and asked Courtney to be his wife. Courtney said, “I was in shock and so surprised, even did the ugly cry. Literally one of the best days ever”.
These two are true gems, they know how to have a good time and are so laid back. I can’t believe how blessed I am to know and document their love. I can’t wait for your wedding day, Courtney and Jay! March can’t come soon enough – enjoy these joyful engagement sneak peeks!
