The sun really showed out for us at Nicole and Tony’s summer sunset engagement session! I mean the entire night I kept saying “OOHH this light is perfect! Y’all are going to die”. Nicole initially reached out to me over Instagram a couple of months ago asking for my availability for their February wedding. The first time I can successfully say I had a follower convert to a client (YAY)!
After meeting them and their three year old Ashton, I knew they were going to be the sweetest and cutest couple! When booking their engagement session, I think we went back and forth on a couple of locations and they finally decided on Rankin Lake park in Gastonia. If you’ve never been there, it’s kind of a little hidden gem in the Dallas area right off the highway. The last time I had been there was at least 5 years ago. They are enhancing it for sure, with little paddle boats, and docks for fishing and everything! You have to check it out, it’s great for families and little ones.
How they met
Let’s flashback 7 years ago, when Nicole was in a blood bank giving blood and a tall dark and handsome worker caught her eye. She noticed him staring (because she was too) and after catching eyes about 15 times he finally came over and started talking. Ironically, or if you believe in fate, Nicole had been donating blood for years and Tony had just recently started as a phlebotomist at this particular blood bank. What are the odds?! After she left, he found her on Facebook and they started talking every day until they finally went out one night for drinks and they’ve been inseparable ever since!
How he proposed
Just like every other family on Christmas eve, they were taking pictures with each other trying to capture memories. Especially when there are little ones around, it seems like you take more pictures to help remember them at their littlest stages. I don’t know about y’all but we have a ton of family Christmas pictures from when all my cousins and my brother were growing up! Anyways, while Nicole, Tony and their little boy Ashton were taking family pictures, Tony got down on one knee and proposed in front of their entire family and completely took her by surprise! What a sweet moment to be able to share with all the parents, cousins, aunts and uncles!
Their engagement session ended with the best summer sunset! Part of the reason they chose Rankin Lake as their engagement session location is because Tony grew up in Gastonia. They now live a few counties over on the lake so it was super sentimental to be back in their hometown at such a monumental time of their lives! I cannot wait for their winter wedding at The Laboratory Mill next February, but for now enjoy these favorites!!
