Couples, Portraits

We braved the public outdoors during a global pandemic and a state-wide “stay at home” order. Maybe I shouldn’t publicize that? Here’s to hoping I don’t get arrested at this point…

These two slayed it, to say the least. Haley and JP have been some of my really great friends for years! I’ve actually known and been best friends with Haley since elementary school! Baby babies!! We cheered, danced for a hot minute and mostly did gymnastics together growing up.

How they met

Haley and I both met JP in middle school. As mush as you can call it “dating” in middle school, Haley and JP were an item back then. They went to the middle school dances and 8th grade prom and dated for a few years.

As most middle school romances go they went their separate ways in high school but found their way back to one another in college and have been inseparable ever since! As one of my longest best friends and now my boyfriend’s favorite golf partners, we waited and waited for JP to finally put a ring on her finger! I mean it’d been 6 or 7 years since they rekindled their love!

How he Proposed

Haley’s sister and her husband live out in Omaha while she’s in dental school, so like the traveling people they are, they went out to visit them along with Haley’s parents. Just like they had few times before, it was a normal trip. Little be knownst to her there was something special planned for this trip to Omaha.

They got into town Friday evening and got ready for dinner. Her sister said they should go to Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge to kill some time before their dinner reservation. The bridge splits two states and he dropped down to one knee at the state line. Even though he didn’t tell a single friend back home, the smart guy found and hired a photographer out there – Kaitlyn Neeley – who captured the most perfect moment!

Her family stood off a bit on the bridge so they could have their moment but you can tell in the photos they were starring through watery eyes! She said yes of course, or we wouldn’t be here today. They popped champagne after and had the best sushi of their lives. BEST DAY EVER!

I can’t wait to stand by Haley’s side on her big day this fall as she says “I do” to the man of her dreams!  I feel so honored to have been asked to take your engagement photos and to spend this season of love with you two!!
