We started a new blog series this fall for the chance to share more about other “Friendors” (wedding vendors) in the Charlotte area!   As small business owners we all strive for word of mouth referrals. Then this idea popped into my head to help educate clients and those recently engaged to hear a little bit from different types of vendors other than photography!

Most of the vendors you’ll hear from in this series I have either worked with already or have met and become friends with but haven’t worked with YET! I’m so excited to see what they share and hopefully this little blog series helps someone find the perfect vendor dream team for their big day!

Chelish Moore is a charlotte wedding florist and has been in this business for over 30 years. Several of my brides have chosen her and every little detail that had her floral touch was stunning, from the bouquets, bouts, table centerpieces to the altar and everything in between. Plus with over 30 years of experience she’s had the opportunity to design florals for Oprah, American Idol, Democratic National Convention, Dale Earnhardt Jr and Avett Brothers to name a few! I’d say she knows what she’s doing and has a few tips and suggestions for others.

I asked Chelish what are the top three tips brides should know before picking their wedding flowers, and here is what she had to say:

  1. Make a Pinterest page and narrow down what you want. Come prepared to your first consultation with a style and inspiration pictures on that Pinterest page.
  2. Be educated about what flowers cost. Everyone knows what bread and milk costs, but not flowers. This helps with sticker shock.
  3. Relax. We’ve got this. Let us do our job! That’s why you hire a professional.

I completely agree with all of these and I would add to also know what flowers are in season for your wedding vs what are not. If you  really love peonies but they aren’t in season during your wedding, what’s a similar flower that you would be okay to substitute for? This is something that I’m sure a really good florist like Chelish can you find and determine but having a general idea of the look and type of flower you want is a good start!

Thank you Chelish for sharing your wisdom and helping brides design the perfect flowers for their big day as a Charlotte wedding florist! Make sure you follow Chelish’s business and if you’re interested in her services you can contact her via her website contact page.
